A Sub-Regional Dialogue: Promoting Sustainable Food Consumption in Southeast and Northeast Asia through Farm-to-Fork Concept
Increased food consumption by a growing population, combined with changing dietary patterns, poses a huge challenge to the global
food system in Asia, and is linked to environmental issues including plastics and packaging, increased use of toxic chemicals to
increase production, and increased food waste. Shifting to more sustainable food consumption patterns would make a significant
contribution to Asia's transition towards more sustainable, equitable, resilient, and nutritious food system. This course aims
to increase understandings of the current state and challenges of sustainable food consumption in Asia through policies and case
studies. This will also help to foster awareness on significance of the food consumption through updates from the UN Food Systems
Summit (UNFSS) and to share government policies and showcase good practices and initiatives on promoting sustainable food production.
This online course is based on the Farm-to-Fork idea, with a focus on sustainable food consumption.
